With the ring road closed due to 100mph+ winds, we attempted a back route to Mælifell. Turns out most people approach it from the east, as the F-road from the west, which we took, is tough going. Less than halfway after 2 hours and with the sun going down, we headed back to camp in Vik. “Gutted” didn’t cover it, but having the road and views to ourselves is pretty cool… unless your mate’s head gets in the way!
