Taking a holiday in Scotland for the first time since moving here is a bit of novelty, but getting food poisoning the day before we were due to set off was not. Particularly as my wife had booked us in at Inver for the first night, as a birthday treat.

Inver was still great and in such a peaceful spot on the quieter side of Loch Fyne.

After a couple of days recovering on the Ardnamurchan peninsula, watching otters, oystercatchers and visiting Sanna Bay, we decided to try a climb up Ben Hiant. It’s the highest peak on the peninsula, although somewhat small at 528m. The perfect “recovery” hill.

Still, it was pretty steep to start with, and felt a struggle in my current state. We soon got to the top though, with great views down the coast to our campsite. Starting to feel better already.
